The Launch of the 2025 Omran Award’s Third Edition :
The conference hall in Dijlah Village witnessed the opening ceremony of the third cycle of the Omran Award on Thursday, April 4, 2025, with a large attendance of architects, engineers, prominent figures, and those interested in the fields of design and urban development.
The event commenced with an opening speech by the award’s founder, Mr. Haider Al-Omran, who provided an overview of the award and its goals—primarily to support architectural creativity and promote a spirit of innovation among youth and enthusiasts in the field. Mr. Haider emphasized that the award has become a significant platform for bringing together promising talents with seasoned professionals, reflecting a tangible advancement in the local architectural scene

Following the opening remarks, Miss Rusul Ali, the project manager, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the key themes of this year’s award. Her presentation included an introduction to the award, an explanation of the participation requirements and registration process, as well as a review of the timeline and details of the accompanying workshops. These workshops form part of a continuous learning series aimed at enhancing participant engagement and developing their skills

The presentation also highlighted a major change in this cycle: the separation of interior design from architecture, allowing for broader participation from specialists and enthusiasts in both fields independently. The number of winners and the prizes designated for the third cycle were also announced, along with the benefits that include the promotion and publication of their works.
The event further witnessed the launch announcement of the official magazine of the Omran Award, a specialized platform dedicated to sharing updates about the award, documenting workshops, and showcasing architectural outcomes. The magazine will also focus on projects related to the private sector and the architectural landscape in Iraq, with the aim of supporting national architectural movement and creating a continuous space for dialogue and knowledge exchange among professionals and enthusiasts. The award’s website was also introduced, serving as an additional channel to share participants’ experiences with a broader audience

The ceremony was attended by judges from previous cycles, in addition to past winners—most notably Nawaf Mohammed, the first-place winner from the previous cycle—who shared their inspiring stories and success journeys with the audience.

Following the opening ceremony, a closing event is scheduled to announce the winning projects and honor their creators, in a celebratory atmosphere that recognizes the efforts of participants and highlights architectural creativity and excellence in the region
